Stores Manager

AV Dawson Limited provides smarter supply chain solutions across Road, Rail and Sea through its Teesside freight handling facilities, including shipping and railfreight terminals, warehousing and supporting road transport fleet. Employing around 240 people across the region AV Dawson are dedicated to the development and improvement of their employees and the community in which we operate.

As part of on-going business growth and development we are looking to expand our facilities to include an internal Stores centre working as part of the company procurement team. With the recruitment of a Stores Manager into this new and exciting role we aim to provide a safe, secure and fully operational stores location to ensure appropriately controlled receipt and dispatch of goods.

As this is a newly created role there will be the potential for the successful candidate to influence the working structure of the stores environment to ensure optimum operational capacity and cost effective management. The key aspects of the role include:

• Receipt and dispatch of goods with full control of all items
• Management of a quarantine area for defective/rejected goods
• Control of stocks and supplies of regular goods, including management of a consignment stock for some items
• Ensure excellent control of stock, rotation of stored items and meeting any ‘use by’ deadlines to ensure minimum stock wastage.
• Receipt and distribution of externally hired tools and equipment to ensure appropriate controls and knowledge of hire of items and returns of goods to control costs.
• Liaise with Finance
• Use of appropriate IT system to support with management, re-order and stock level control of items

This is an exciting opportunity providing the role holder the chance to effectively develop the position as needed. It is essential the successful candidate is an experienced stores person who is customer focused, highly organised and possesses excellent IT skills and is self managing to ensure delivery against pre-determined targets.

It would be advantageous if the successful candidate has experience of SAGE stock control system, although such knowledge is not essential as training will be provided.
